20004585 Escape Room

Escape Room

I made a simple concept for my Escape Room game. The game is set in a strange flat, you wake up here and try to get out. I draw a simple map of where the game gonna take place.

This is a hand-sketched floor plan with a kitchen, one living room, a toilet, a bedroom, a corridor.

I write down different numbers that represent different objects that players can interact with. Each number matches with a project card. But I haven’t made the puzzles so I probably will start making them in the next journal.

The floor plan only represents initial thought, not the final product. It’s very hard to distinguish between objects. For example, from this top-down view, it’s hard to see which one is TV and which one is the fridge. In the future, I will separate this floor plan into different sections. And for each section, I will draw a 2D horizontal view map.

Second Journal

In this Journal, I made some progress and narrow down the map of the escape room. Instead of making a whole map with different rooms and paths. I am making a single room with some objects like the one shown below. All the puzzles or interactive objects will be located in this room. The background of the escape room also changed a bit. You wake up in a strange sunny room, there’s no door to get out, you need to find a way to escape from this room. In the next journal, I might change the map a bit and also add some numbers or letters to the map to indicate the interactive objects. I will also start making cards and designing puzzles. I am aiming to finish this brief in the next Journal.

The Final Journal

I finished the Escape Room by making different cards that matches different numbers on the main map. I also insert a puzzle that requires cooperation. So basically, there is an unknown code with an alphabet. Players need to encrypt the code first and then get a math problem. Solving the maths problem by solving the puzzle.
